Windmills: A History, by Colin Moore
Windmills: A History, by Colin Moore
Site Editor's Note
I'm no lover of modern wind turbines, at least not when they're placed close to people's homes or where they desecrate beautiful scenery. I'm not even convinced of the economics. Old style, traditional windmills of the "Dusty Miller" variety, however, get me quite excited. I'm no great expert on the subject but I've been known to spend an entire week's holiday photographing them down in the East of England, mostly in the county where the author of this book is based, Lincolnshire. This history of the windmill by Colin Moore traces its development from a part of agricultural village life to the enormous power generation machines that we have today.
